Artist Statement for Meaningful Exhibition

Meaningless, meaningless, trying to find meaning in meaningless things is very counterproductive, don’t you think?
In a world that produces hate, fear and death and pulls us towards the meaningless, I want to be fruitful in the meaningful, I want my works, words and life to produce goodness, love, joy and peace.
I try not to control my creative process or enter it with preconceived ideas. For me, the creative process is a time of spiritual transformation through the renewing of my mind, surrendering of my soul and expressing my heart through my hands.
Upon reflection, I see that the track marks of the echidna throughout the pieces are my exploration of our enigmatic existence and search for meaning. I see the lines and drips reflect my beliefs, some being broken some be restored. The flowers are sign of new life, regeneration and growth.
Each piece is an outpour of my subconscious conversations, questions and cries. I don’t understand the what’s and why’s of why I created what I did, nor do I need to.
I’m learning, rather than always seeking understanding, to embrace encounter and just rest in revelation.
As a result of creating these pieces, I felt release and peace and I just want to rest in that for now.
I invite whoever may connect with the pieces, to find a place of rest while reflecting in them and I encourage you to enter into the conversation with the questions that arise from your subconscious around your own existence and meaning for your life.
